Privacy Policy — CashBack Compass

CashBack Compass (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides tools to help you track subscription spending and manage subscriptions. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1) Information We Collect

A. Information you provide

  • Optional name (if you enter it during onboarding).

  • Support messages (if you contact us through our support form or email), including your message content and the email address you use to contact us.

B. Information created by using the app

  • Subscription selections you choose from our catalog (for example: Netflix, Disney+, etc.).

  • Spending estimates you enter (for example: your monthly budget estimate).

C. Automatically collected information

We may collect limited technical information needed to operate the app, such as:

  • Device type and iOS version

  • App version

  • Basic diagnostics (for example, crash reports)

We do not collect precise location. Your device region or locale may be used on-device to format currency and pricing display.

D. Email-related data (only if you choose to use email features)

If the app offers email forwarding or email scanning features, those features are optional and only occur when you choose to use them.

Depending on the feature:

  • If you forward emails to a mailbox you control for processing, we may receive the forwarded email content you send.

  • If you connect a third-party email provider (such as Gmail) in a future version, we will only request the minimum permissions needed and will clearly describe what is accessed on the consent screen.

We do not sell email data.

2) How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Show your subscription list and spending estimates

  • Provide cancellation assistance features (for example, opening the right manage or cancel path or drafting a cancellation email you can review before sending)

  • Provide customer support and respond to your requests

  • Improve reliability and performance (for example, debug crashes and fix bugs)

  • Prevent fraud and abuse and secure the service

3) Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share data only in these situations:

  • With service providers that help us operate the app (for example, hosting, analytics, or email support tools). They are permitted to use data only to provide services to us.

  • If required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

  • In connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition), where required by law.

4) AI Features and Third-Party Processing

Some features may use an AI service to generate suggestions (for example, drafting a cancellation email template). When used:

  • We send only the information needed to perform the request (for example, subscription name and brief context you provide).

  • We do not intentionally send passwords or sensitive personal data.

  • You remain in control: you can review and edit any drafted content before sending.

5) Data Retention

We keep information only as long as needed:

  • App settings and selections may remain on your device unless you delete the app.

  • Support emails or messages are retained only as long as needed to respond and for record-keeping, then deleted or anonymized.

  • If any server processing is used for optional features, data is retained only as long as necessary to provide the feature and maintain security.

6) Your Choices and Controls

You can:

  • Edit or remove your name and estimates in the app (where available).

  • Delete the app to remove locally stored data.

  • Request deletion of any data we may hold by contacting us (see “Support & Contact” below).

7) Children’s Privacy

CashBack Compass is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8) Security

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9) International Users

If you use the app from outside Canada, your information may be processed in countries where we or our service providers operate. We take steps to protect data consistent with this Privacy Policy.

10) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version and revise the “Effective Date” above.
