Privacy Policy – CashBack Compass

CashBack Compass (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an iOS application designed to help users identify and manage their paid subscriptions by analyzing digital receipts found in their Gmail accounts. We are committed to protecting user privacy and being transparent about how data is used.

Information We Access

1.1 Google Account Information

When a user connects their Google account, we may receive basic profile details such as name, email address, and profile image. This is used only for account identification within the app.

1.2 Gmail Data (gmail.readonly scope)

With explicit user consent, CashBack Compass accesses Gmail messages using the gmail.readonly scope. This permission allows us to:

Read subjects, senders, and bodies of emails related to subscription or payment confirmations
Extract merchant name, price, and billing period
Display this information to the user inside the app

We cannot delete, modify, or send emails.

We do not access emails unrelated to purchase or subscription activity.

2. Use of AI for Text Extraction

To identify subscription details, we may send limited portions of relevant email content (e.g., receipts) to OpenAI for text analysis. This is strictly used for extracting merchant names, prices, and billing cycles.

We do not use this data for advertising or profiling.

3. How We Use the Information

We use the data to:

Identify subscription-related emails
Build a dashboard showing recurring charges
Help users cancel unwanted subscriptions by providing links or draft email templates
Improve app functionality and support

We do not sell user data.
We do not share Gmail contents with any third parties except OpenAI for analysis as described above.

4. Revoking Access

Users may disconnect the app from their Google account at any time:

Once revoked, we can no longer access Gmail data.

5. Data Retention

We retain only the extracted subscription information as long as the user maintains their connection. If a user disconnects or requests deletion, stored data will be removed within a reasonable period, except where required by law.

6. Children’s Privacy

CashBack Compass is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
